Las Lenas Ski Center is now one of South America's best-known ski resorts, although it was built only in 1983. Thanks to its majestic surroundings and comprehensive offerings for all levels of skiers, Las Lenas has become very popular with locals and foreigners alike. With a reputation for constantly expanding programs, it is perhaps Argentina's premier ski resort for extreme and heli-skiing. Recently it has become a full-fledged year-round resort and now offers several other mountainside activities such as horseback riding, mountain biking, orienteering, paragliding, trekking and wilderness tours.
The easiest route by air to Las Lenas is by plane from Buenos Aires to nearby Malargue Airport, then by bus directly to the resort. There are well-marked buses at the airport during ski season, and the entire trip is approximately 2.5 hours. There are also direct flights from Sao Paolo in Brazil during the winter months.
