For thrill seekers, the exhilarating Rio Manso in the south of Nahuel Huapi National Park offers one of the best rivers for rafting. The typical rafting trip lasts between a half and a full day, but longer excursions are also available by request. The season is from Mid October to the beginning of May. Newcomers will love "Manso Clasico," a full-day experience along the section of the Manso classified as category II-III. For the more experienced, "Manso de la Frontera" is a full day trip that also involves some hiking, with the river a class IV in this section.
Lower Manso River Rafting
This full day, ten-hour adventure includes full equipment, rafting guides, and meals. Guides will make personal lodging pick-ups for all group members and begin the trip along Route 258, passing scenic lakes before reaching the destination Manso River. A special sightseeing stop at the National Park allows sights of Huala Hue lagoon and lakes Steffen and Martin. After the first leg of rafting, lasting about an hour, the group stops to enjoy the beautiful scenery amidst a specialty lunch before taking off on another hour-long leg of rafting, stopping for a relaxing swim in one of the many ponds or paradise-like beaches. This action-packed day ends with dinner before the trip back to Bariloche.
Manso de la Frontera
This nine-hour excursion requires good fitness shape and a confident swimming ability; like the Lower Manso River Rafting, Manso de le Frontera includes full equipment, personal guides, food breaks, and transportation. The trip begins along Route 258, after instructions and safety measures are administered. The rafting descend then begins through a breaktaking canyon and finally into the real white water rapids. About two hours of fun and adrenaline, the adventure finishes just at the borderline with Chile, where the van awaits, taking the group to a delicious barbeque over a glass of fine red wine before the hour-long ride back to Bariloche.
Specially designed for those with a truly adventuresome spirit, these two day trips combine several sports such as whitewater rafting, mountain biking, horseback riding, and camping in the enticing, untouched Valle del Manso. Complete with bonfires, horseback treks through ancient woodlands, beautiful waterfalls, and serene biking and exploration across hidden trails, members will be with a guide at all times.
